Federal funding cuts imposed by the Trump administration are leaving a mark on National Park landscapes and the communities that surround them. The Big Beautiful Bill rescinded $267 million earmarked for park improvements and the administration has proposed a further 38 percent budget cut next year. For generations, West Virginia’s economy was built around taking coal from the mountains; money doesn't stay in the state other than the wages.
