Alberta iela is a street in central Riga known for its Art Nouveau buildings. It was built around 1901 and named after Bishop Albert who founded Riga in 1201. Many of the apartment buildings along the street were designed by the Russian architect Mikhail Eisenstein, also this house with this decoration on number 13. The Art Nouveau movement reached its peak in the early 20th century, which is when the majority of Riga's Art Nouveau houses were built, beginning in 1899. Riga is one of the largest centers of Art Nouveau, with more than a third of the buildings of its Central District built in the style. The historic centre of Riga was added to the Unesco list of world heritages sites in 1997. This is the building on Alberta Iela 13 (Albert street) , by architect Mikhail Eisenstein, built in 1904.
