Russia participates in final stage of 'Komodo-2025' Naval Exercise

INDONESIA - (RELEASED ON FEB. 24, 2025) - RESTRICTION: USERS MUST CREDIT “RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY” HANDOUT, MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO —EDITORIAL USE ONLY— The final stage of the multilateral naval exercise "Komodo-2025" has taken place off the coast of Indonesia, with the participation of Russian Navy vessels. “More than 20 warships from various countries took part in the exercise. The Russian Navy was represented by the corvettes "Rezkiy" and "Geroy Rossiyskoy Federatsii Aldar Tsydenzhapov", as well as the medium sea tanker "Pechenga" of the Pacific Fleet”, Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Telegram. The statement added that during the practical episode of the exercise, the crews of the ships carried out rescue tasks at sea. It further stated that the ships of the multinational detachment, operating as part of tactical groups, searched for a civilian vessel in distress and conducted a rescue operation on the water. The search was carried out with the help of deck helicopters, with Russia deploying a Ka-27PS. The multilateral naval exercise involving 39 countries, including Türkiye, kicked off on Feb 16. in Indonesia's island province of Bali. Themed “Maritime Partnership for Peace and Stability,” the exercise is the fifth edition of the biennial event and began with a fleet review, where participating nations showcased their naval capabilities, including warships, helicopters, and aircraft. First launched in 2014, MNEK is a non-combat military exercise organized by the Indonesian Navy to foster maritime cooperation among friendly nations.
