Haitian capital in tailspin as downtown Port-au-Prince almost deserted

PORT- AU- PRINCE, HAITI - MARCH 26: Since February 29, armed gangs have laid siege to a large part of the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. Earlier this week, they set fire to most of the pharmacies, clinics and houses near the Haitian State University hospital, better known as the Hôpital Général.The Haitian capital went into a tailspin. Downtown Port-au-Prince is almost deserted. Citizens have abandoned their homes in the face of gang violence. Thugs took advantage of the displacement of families to set fire to houses, warehouses, clinics and pharmacies on rue Monseigneur Guilloux, near the general hospital.
