UMWA retraces Battle of Blair Mountain on the 100th anniversary

LOGAN COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA - SEPTEMBER 5: Union coal miners and their supporters hold a rally after completing a fifty mile march along the route that coal miners took in 1921 during the coal wars that led to the Battle of Blair Mountain, September 5, 2021 in Boone County, West Virginia. 100 years ago, when miners protesting coal company brutality, entered Logan County they were attacked with machine guns and bombed with airplanes. Although the coal miners surrendered and disarmed, the battle led to the formation of modern industrial unions in America. The UMWA used to have 800,000 members.
