TENERIFE, CANARY ISLANDS - FEBRUARY 14: A specimen of the black seadevil Humpback Anglerfish known as *Melanocetus johnsonii* is spotted near the coast of Tenerife for the first time in broad daylight in Canary Islands, Spain on February 14, 2025. This fish, with its dark appearance and bioluminescent appendage, typically inhabits depths between 200 and 2,000 meters, where sunlight does not reach. The sighting occurred on January 26th in waters near Playa San Juan, in Guia de Isora, just two kilometers from the coast, according to the NGO Condrik Tenerife. The fish is currently being preserved at the MUNA Museum of Nature and Archaeology. (Photo by Andres Gutierrez/Anadolu via Getty Images)
