London streets largely empty amid coronavirus outbreak

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - MARCH 17: Normally crowded central London was almost empty on Tuesday, March 17, a day after authorities said that 55 people have died from coronavirus. Streets and squares in the capital were almost empty and few people braved the London Underground as the United Kingdom went into lockdown. The public have been asked to stay at home to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. People should avoid all non-essential contact Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday. Johnson sounded a note of warning, saying: “It looks as though we’re now approaching the fast growth part of the upward curve.
