Milan streets deserted amid coronavirus lockdown in Italy

The usually crowded Italian city of Milan has been deserted after the government extended quarantine measures across the entire country to combat the coronavirus outbreak. Milan’s most notable landmarks including Duomo square have seen their number of visitors dwindle or have been closed down completely. Over five million people visit the Duomo every year, according to Culture Trip. But the square has been almost empty due to the fear of the virus.
