HHS Official Admits Inadequate Staff to Handle Undocumented Children

Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin asks Mark Greenberg, Acting Assistant Secretary at the Administration for Children and Families within the Department of Health and Human Services about how the inflow of undocumented children to the United States exploded in recent years. Greenberg responds that the Department’s program to conduct intake grew tenfold to nearly 60,000, and that there is no question that in the summer of 2014, the Department faced an inadequate facilities to shelter them. Greenberg explains growing the personnel at the office of refugee resettlement to over 100, in addition to promulgate a new rules and strengthening child abuse checks.
