HODA KOTB: And here with all the best entertainment to look forward to is IMDB special correspondent Dave Karger. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Dave Karger. DAVE KARGER: Hi, guys. HODA KOTB: Dave Karger's in the house. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. So-- DAVE KARGER: Hey. Finally, lots of good stuff to talk about, starting with-- HODA KOTB: Okay, you know-- DAVE KARGER: --I know you-- HODA KOTB: --we-- we've been waiting patiently for this day. DAVE KARGER: Bridget Jones's Baby. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: A lot of people have. I know. HODA KOTB: Bridget Jones. Tell us. DAVE KARGER: I have seen it and I'm here to tell you it's great. HODA KOTB: What? DAVE KARGER: Renee Zellweger is in rare form. It's this great love triangle story, as you know, between her and Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey. I am team Colin. Not sure about you guys. HODA KOTB: Tim Colin. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Tim Colin. DAVE KARGER: It's super fun. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Although Patrick Dempsey, I wouldn’t kick out. HODA KOTB: He is fine. DAVE KARGER: It's-- the movie's fun and it's just the perfect amount of naughty. So great for a girls' night out. HODA KOTB: All right. Kath and I both read the book On the Train. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. Girl-- DAVE KARGER: I know. HODA KOTB: And couldn’t put it down. So now it's a movie. DAVE KARGER: Paula Hawkins' novel finally being made into a film. HODA KOTB: Yeah. DAVE KARGER: I think it looks very Gone Girl-ish from the trailer. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. DAVE KARGER: Emily Blunt is so fantastic. She's on the train. She kind of sees interesting nefarious things going on. Gets caught into a little bit of a mystery. I am very intrigued. You think it will make a good movie having read the book? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I think it's going to be a fantastic movie, especially with Emily in that role. HODA KOTB: Yeah. DAVE KARGER: She's great. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. HODA KOTB: I mean that book, I could not put down. All right. DAVE KARGER: Oh, good. HODA KOTB: What about you got the kids and you want to go see something fun? DAVE KARGER: For families, I would recommend Trolls which is from DreamWorks animation. HODA KOTB: Oh. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Remember those hair? DAVE KARGER: I would-- and you stick it on the back of your pencil and flip it around and the hair goes crazy. HODA KOTB: Yes. DAVE KARGER: This-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And you wanted to collect all of them. DAVE KARGER: I know. This one has the voices of Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick and Justin's big song "Can’t Stop the Feeling" is from this movie. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh. HODA KOTB: Oh. DAVE KARGER: So it's going to get even more of a longer ride. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Okay. That’s a hit. HODA KOTB: All right. DAVE KARGER: Yeah. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Mm-Hm. HODA KOTB: Let's move to TV. There's an NBC show that you'd give-- you give two thumbs up to. DAVE KARGER: Yeah, I really miss the TV show Parenthood. I loved it so much. And this new show on NBC called This Is Us really scratches that same itch for me. Great ensemble drama. A group of people who have the same birthday in different points in their lives. And as the show goes on, the pilot at least, you learn that they're all interconnected, especially at the end there is this brilliant reveal. Pay close attention. It's unbelievable. Very, very impressive. HODA KOTB: What kind of audiences? What do you think? DAVE KARGER: Adults, I think. Yeah. But I'm glad that it's being made. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Especially this part. DAVE KARGER: Yeah. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. Okay. HODA KOTB: There is this show it's called Pitch. I've seen some trailers, it looks good too. DAVE KARGER: Yeah, it's about a young woman-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It's not about singing. DAVE KARGER: No, it's not. It's about a young woman who gets called up to be the first female pitcher in Major League Baseball history. And this is her as a young girl and now here she is. The actress's name, Kylie Bunbury, and I think she's really poised to be one of the breakout stars of the season. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh, she is beautiful. DAVE KARGER: Gorgeous. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Is this-- is this based on that young girl, Monique, the-- the young girl on the cover of Sports Illustrated. DAVE KARGER: I think it must be loosely based on her. It looks really inspirational which is great. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: The softball. HODA KOTB: Yeah. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. DAVE KARGER: And you know-- you know who's back on TV, Sarah Jessica Parker, guys. HODA KOTB: What? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. In that Divorce, right? DAVE KARGER: Yeah. The new show on HBO called Divorce. Coming out in October. She's going through a very nasty divorce from her husband played by Thomas Haden Church. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Who is great actor. DAVE KARGER: It's a comedy, but it's not a breezy comedy like Sex and the City, it's a little bit darker, but it's great. And Molly Shannon who plays her best friend steals the show. She's fantastic. HODA KOTB: That’s a great cast. DAVE KARGER: Yeah. HODA KOTB: Can we talk music just quickly? DAVE KARGER: Yeah. HODA KOTB: Give us a couple. DAVE KARGER: Shawn Mendes has his new album called "Illuminate" coming out. And I love him because his music is catchy, but he's also a respectable young kid, he's not getting himself in trouble. I like this kid a lot. And Rick Astley is back. HODA KOTB: And Rick Astley. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah, Rick Astley. DAVE KARGER: He's fif-- fifty years old, his record's already gone to number one in England. HODA KOTB: Of course, he did. DAVE KARGER: I think he looks like a million bucks, by the way. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: He's a kid. HODA KOTB: All right. DAVE KARGER: The stuff sounds good. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: He's fifty. He's a kid. HODA KOTB: Karger, thank you, honey. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Thank you very much, Dave. DAVE KARGER: Great to see you guys. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Okay. Could you be our fan of the week? HODA KOTB: Hmm. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Maybe.
