Letters of Ukrainian refugees sheltered in Lviv

LVIV, UKRAINE - APRIL 11: (EDITOR'S NOTE: COMPOSITE IMAGE) Ukrainian refugees, having arrived in Lviv from different cities of South Ukraine, write their stories on letters at the gym where they are sheltered temporarily in Lviv, Ukraine on April 11, 2022. 40-year-old father Sergei, 35-years-old mother Natalia and their children; 3-year-old Danilo, 16-year-old Karina and also their 68-year- old grandmother Luidmila take refuge to Lviv due to Russian attacks on Ukraine and below is the letter of 16-year-old Karina:"We are a family from Borislav province of Kherson Oblast. We came to Lviv on April 10 because our city was occupied by the Russian army. We were constantly hearing explosions in the city, vehicles belonging to the Russian Federation were constantly passing by, Russian soldiers were holding the entrance and exit to the city, so it was impossible for food and cleaning products to reach city. We were constantly staying in cold shelters at night. My brother had pneumonia and then we stayed at the hospital for treatment. At the time of the explosions, we were in the hospital, at the bunker. Everyone in my family lived in constant fear of death and we decided to go to the city of Kryvyi Rih. We faced with many Russian checkpoints on the way and they controlled us every time. We saw burned vehicles, demolished buildings, destroyed military equipment, mined areas and bridges. We came to the city of Kryvvi Rih from the Kherson Oblast, where nice people greeted us and provide us food and accommodation and from here we took the train to Lviv."
