King Charles III And The Queen Consort Attend The Royal Maundy Service

YORK, UNITED KINGDOM - APRIL 06: (EMBARGOED FOR PUBLICATION IN UK NEWSPAPERS UNTIL 24 HOURS AFTER CREATE DATE AND TIME) The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York awaits the arrival of King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort for the Royal Maundy Service at York Minster on April 6, 2023 in York, England. During the service His Majesty, for the first time since becoming Monarch and Supreme Governor of the Church of England, presented 74 men and 74 women (signifying the age of the Monarch) with Maundy Money to thank them for their work within the Church. Each recipient receives two purses, one red and one white. The white purse contains a set of specially minted silver Maundy coins equivalent in value to the age of the Monarch.
