Cobbler Making Shoes
(Original Caption) Papal Cobbler. Rome: Shoes for no less a person than Pope Pius XII are made by Cobbler Domenico Canguillo in his modest little shop near the Vatican in Rome. Canguillo is using a discarded Papal slipper as a model. He's proud to have inherited the privilege of shoeing the Pope from his former teacher, Giuseppe Cattefoglia, who was cobbler for three Pontiffs during his 50 years as a shoemaker. A picture of the Pope hangs on the shop wall.
