Senator Stuart Syvret stands outside the Haut De La Garenne youth hostel in Jersey as forensic teams continue their search for human remains on the site, February 26, 2008. Police on the Channel Island of Jersey where a child's buried remains were found widened their search for bodies yesterday to six more sites in and around a former children's home. A sniffer dog detected the remains of a child's skeleton through a concrete floor on February 23 part of a probe into alleged historic child sex abuse over a 40 year period. A former minister, Syvret, has claimed previous abuses were mishandled and urged the UK government to use independent judges for any court case.
