GAZA CITY, -: Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas waves during a rally for Palestinians who have been disabled during the course of the five-year intifada, outside his office in Gaza City 22 August 2005. All Israeli settlers have been evacuated under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's disengagement plan from the 21 Jewish communities in the Gaza Strip, police spokesman Avi Zelba told AFP 22 August. Abbas said that the last Israeli settlers were leaving the Gaza Strip thanks to the efforts of the "martyrs, prisoners and wounded" of the Palestinian uprising.
