Kingeline (L), 45, and Remeza, 36, check solar lighting systems in the village of Ambakivao, Madagascar, on April 23, 2018. - These two women are part of group of four women who have become their community's first solar engineers. These volunteers have brought electricity to nearly 200 families in their village in Madagascar. Traditionally, people used petroleum lamps for lighting their homes. The four women spent six months in India to apply solar technology, leaving their country, sometimes their village, for the first time in their lives. Along with technical training, the program also brings new economic and leadership opportunities for the women.
