TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY CHARLOTTE DAVID A worker tends to Lily of the Valley plants in a horticultural farm in La Chapelle-Basse-Mer, close to Nantes, on April 22, 2015, in anticipation of the May 1 holiday. Some thirty horticultural providers in the Nantes region produce close to 60 million Lily of the Valley plants, covering 200 hectares of surface area. The harvesting of the plant is done exclusively by hand, and creates close to 7000 seasonal job contracts. The Nantes region accounting for 80% of French production of the plant, generating more than 15 million euros in revenue.
