This photo taken on January 28, 2016 at the Maritime museum of Noumea shows a 19th Century kitchen stove and water distiller, that was hauled from the July 3, 1846 shipwreck of the French Royal Navy corvette "La Seine", off New Caledonia coast last December 2015. This may be a unique piece in the world today : the 19th Century copper "kitchen distiller" (Cuisine distillatoire in French), corroded by salt and weighing 1.2 tons, allowed the crews of long-haul vessels to cook and always have drinking water on board.
