SLEONE-FLOOD-DISASTER

Sierra Leone's President Ernest Bai Koroma (C-L) and Liberia's President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (C-R) lay wreath of flowers during the ceremony for the victims of a mudslide at the Paloko Cemetery in Waterloo on August 17, 2017. Sierra Leone buried at least 300 victims of devastating floods today, as fears grew of more mudslides and accusations of government "inaction" over deforestation and poor urban planning mounted. Although the death toll is officially 300, rescue workers privately agree the toll is far higher, and one told AFP that in line with an unofficial morgue toll, 400 graves had been dug for the victims, who will be buried over a two-day period. / AFP PHOTO / MOHAMED SAIDU BAH / The erroneous mention[s] appearing in the metadata of this photo by MOHAMED SAIDU BAH has been modified in AFP systems in the following manner: [Paloko Cemetery in Waterloo] instead of [cemetery of Freetown].
