Schloss Johannisburg in Aschaffenburg, Germany, 14 May 2015, one of the most important buildings of the Renaissance period in Germany, erected between 1605 and 1614 by the architect Georg Ridinger for Johann Schweikhard von Kronberg, Prince Bishop of Mainz. The palace, that was was nearly destroyed in the closing days of World War II, took some twenty years to be fully restored. As a city of culture, Aschaffenburg hosts palaces, parks and museums.
