Amadou lost his left hand, his 13-month-old niece Simone was killed and his three-year-old brother was injured when the grenade exploded. According to UNICEF, seven persons were killed and 53 injured since April in Mali due to unexploded ordnance from the current conflict opposing Islamists to the Malian Army and its allies.
