Li was attacked by Maoists earlier at his book signings in Beijing and Shenzhen, forcing him to cancel two others in Guangzhou and Changsha. The Maoists take offence to Li's caustic essays and comments about the Communist Party’s governance. Li has previously been punched in the head at a previous signing.
