Nuclear reactor in USA survives massive earthquake

America has the world's largest number of operating nuclear reactors and they are some of the most guarded industrial facilities in USA, this atomic reactor at North Anna some 140 kilometres south of Washington DC, was hit by a massive 5.8 magnitude earthquake on August 23, 2011. The Westinghouse made plant shut down and did not suffer any serious damage even though they were made to withstand earthquakes half this magnitude. (Photo by Pallava Bagla/Corbis via Getty Images)
